Restorative massagea full-body reset, in North London.

A slow, full-body massage to quiet a busy nervous system and bring you back to yourself. Relaxing, unhurried and deeply human, with Sarah McNaughton in North London.

A serene full-body massage, or the calm of the room

Wired and tired. Running on empty. Sleeping badly and never quite switching off. When life has been asking too much for too long, the body keeps the score, and sometimes the most useful thing you can do is lie down and be looked after. Restorative massage is a slow, full-body treatment built entirely around rest.

A restorative session is for you if you're:

  • Stressed, stretched thin or quietly burning out
  • Sleeping poorly, or finding it hard to switch off
  • Carrying the tiredness of grief, change or a demanding season
  • Holding low-grade tension across the whole body, not one spot
  • In need of an hour that asks nothing of you at all

Every session begins with listening, and moves at the pace your body sets.

With Sarah McNaughton, holistic therapist and HCPC-registered occupational therapist. By appointment in North London.

The work

How I work.

This is slow, flowing, full-body massage: long, calming strokes at an unhurried pace, in a warm and quiet room. Less about working a single knot, more about settling the whole nervous system.

Pressure is yours to choose, from feather-light to firm. The invitation is simple: you don't have to do anything, or be anywhere. Just rest.

What it offers

How it helpsbody and mind.

Down-shifts the nervous system

Slow, rhythmic full-body work helps move you out of fight-or-flight and into genuine rest.

Supports better sleep

A deeply calming treatment that many people find quietly transforms how they sleep that night and after.

Eases all-over tension

Meets the low, everywhere tension that builds through a busy life, rather than one isolated area.

Restores more than muscle

Time to be cared for with no agenda. Restorative for the body, and often for the heart as well.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

What is restorative massage?

It's a slow, flowing, full-body massage focused on relaxation and rest, rather than working intensively on one area. 'Restorative' is how I think of its purpose: slowing you down and building you back up. If you simply want to switch off and let your system settle, this is the one.

What does a full-body massage involve?

It covers the back, shoulders, neck, arms, legs and feet, and the scalp if you'd like, always to your comfort. You undress to your level of comfort and are covered with towels throughout, with only the area being worked on uncovered at any time.

Is it good for stress and anxiety?

Very much so. The slow, rhythmic pace is designed to calm the nervous system and quiet a busy mind. Many people come specifically to decompress, sleep better, or simply find a bit of stillness.

How often should I have one?

As often as it serves you. Some come monthly to stay ahead of stress, others when a hard stretch calls for it. There's no wrong rhythm.

What if I just want to switch off and not talk?

That's completely welcome. We'll cover anything I need to know at the start, and after that the session is yours. Talk if you'd like to, or drift off in quiet. Both are perfect.
